Jerald Ray Sherman I, 73, of Bloomville, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Jerald was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Seneca County, to Carl Eugene and Hazel Faye (Wright) Sherman. He married Dorothea G. (Esselman) June 2, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and she survives in Bloomville.
Survivors also include his five children, Jacqueline Dawn (John) Sherman-Sorenson of Spencer, Iowa, Jerald Ray (Vicki) Sherman II of Phoenix, Ariz., Jillynda Annette (Joshua Kirian) Bollinger of Republic, Julia Lynn (Andrew) Afflick of Atlanta, Ga., and Jennifer Marie (James) Winkleski of Beavercreek; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Hugh, Walter Allen and Ricky Lynn Sherman, all of Tiffin; and three sisters, Laura Jean Ritter and Melba Sue Lucius, both of Tiffin, and Karen Kay Schubach of Green Springs.
Jerald was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Phillip and Dillon Bollinger; and two brothers, William Marion and Charles Eugene Sherman.
Jerald retired from Clyde Whirlpool in 2000. He was an avid softball player, enjoyed fishing and was a Cleveland Browns, Cavs and Indians fan. He was a 1958 graduate of Scipio Republic High School.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Tiffin, with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating.
There will be no visitation at this time. Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bollinger Brothers Memorial Scholarship Foundation at any Fifth Third Bank.
