Clyde to welcome new students
CLYDE-GREEN SPRINGS Clyde-Green Springs Schools is to sponsor a Kindergarten Readiness Event 6-7:30 p.m. March 19 at Clyde Elementary Schools.
Children living in the Clyde-Green Springs School District who will be the age of 5 on or before Aug. 1 and parents are to attend.
During the event, introductions of district kindergarten teachers, elementary building principals and other personnel are to be made. Children also are to have the opportunity to participate in games and activities during the event.

Register for Old Fort kindergarten
OLD FORT Old Fort Elementary School is taking registrations for the 2014-15 kindergarten class.
A meeting for incoming kindergarten students' parents is to be at 6 p.m. March 18. Kindergarten screening is April 25 by appointment.

Buckeye Central event to help families
NEW WASHINGTON Sixth-grade students of Buckeye Central Local Schools have been participating in a year-long service project for The Ronald McDonald House.
Students have been collecting pop tabs to be used by The Ronald McDonald House to recycle for money to buy food for the families staying at the house.
The students have a total of 100,000 tabs and it takes 1,507 tabs to equal a pound of recycled aluminum.
The last challenge is to be elementary versus middle school versus high school.
For those interested in donating, give pop tabs to a Buckeye Central student to help the building of choice to win the challenge.

BC to host fundraiser for student trip
NEW WASHINGTON The Buckeye Central eighth-grade class is to take a trip to Washington, D.C., May 14.
Students have participated in fundraisers for their trip and the next fundraiser is next weekend. Parents are to provide a free donation dinner before the high school musical performances, 5-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon-2 p.m. March 9.
The dinner is to include soups, sandwiches and ice cream sundae desserts. Silent auction items also are to be available.
Saturday's event may change due to the basketball tournament.
Mohawk student makes equestrian competition
SYCAMORE Katie Vogel, freshmen at Mohawk High School, has qualified for the regional competition in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association zone 5, region 4, hunt seat trials.
Vogel is a member of the Equine Differences High School Hunt Seat team, which also qualified, collectively, for regional competition. Vogel accumulated 15 or more points in the Junior Varsity Novice over fences division to qualify for the competition.
Middle and high school riders from Summit, Stark, Lorain, Medina, Mahoning and Tuscarawas counties are to compete at the Austin E. Knowlton Otterbein Equestrian Center Saturday in Columbus.
