BLOOMVILLE - Newly appointed Bloomville councilmen Dave Auble and Bill Oliver took the oath of office from Solicitor Tim Hoover Wednesday night. Oliver also has accepted the position of zoning inspector for the village.
Mayor Steve George presented the finance, police and park committee assignments.
Seneca Regional Planning Director Jill Griffin informed council that the village will be able to modify its contract for using a Community Development Block Grant to install sidewalks and handicapped ramps through the downtown since Ohio Department of Transportation is planning to pave SR 19 through the village in 2015. ODOT is to be responsible for installing handicap ramps while it is resurfacing the highway.
Street Superintendent Rick Dentinger reported obtaining a quote of $1,750 for a metal roof on the bathhouse at the pool. The work is not planned until fall. Several water main breaks have been repaired during the winter weather and council thanked citizens who brought drinks to the workers.
Because many hours were worked fixing water breaks and snow plowing, the street employees have 40 overtime hours in one pay period. The village has an ordinance that states no more than 30 hours monthly of overtime is allowed. Council discussed if a one-time exception can be made to pay for the overtime or offer employees comp time. Hoover is to investigate and a decision is to be made at the next meeting.
