NORTH CANTON - Thirty turnovers were just too much to overcome as Tiffin's women fell 85-69 Saturday to Walsh University.
Tiffin (7-15, 4-14 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) went score for score with Walsh in the second half, but a less-than-stellar performance in the game's first 20 minutes accounted for 20 of the Dragons' turnovers and gave the Cavaliers a 45-29 halftime advantage.
The Cavaliers (9-15, 5-13) were led by Rachael Trujillo and Tara Gallupe who recorded 21 points apiece.
Jordan Fraley led the Dragons with 14 points and two assists. Karli Mast put up 11 points, while Jillian Adams added nine points and Jessica Farr grabbed seven rebounds.
Muskingum turns away 'Berg women
NEW CONCORD - Muskingum handed Heidelberg its 12th Ohio Athletic Conference loss, 75-67 Saturday afternoon despite Kathleen Phillips scoring 32 points for the Student Princes.
Heidelberg shot out to an early 6-4 lead in the opening minutes, but Muskingum (7-15, 5-11 OAC) kept Heidelberg at an arm's length, giving up the lead only once in the first half to go into the locker room with a 32-25 advantage.
The Student Princes grabbed their only other lead of the game with 9:39 left in the opening half when Megan Miller sank a jumper to put Heidelberg (11-12, 4-12) up, 50-48. But the Muskies retook the lead less than a minute later en route to a seven-point lead at the break.
Phillips' scoring effort led all players, and she added five rebounds and six steals for The 'Berg.
Paige Ricketts added nine points and Molly Schriber contributed six points and had five rebounds.
Walsh slays Dragons
NORTH CANTON - Poor shooting plagued Tiffin, allowing Walsh pick up a commanding 91-61 victory Saturday afternoon.
Looking to light a fire under the Dragons (8-15, 4-14), Joe Graessle recorded four assists and led the team with 25 points.
Khaleal McCormick and Mike Boan scored 14 and 11 points respectively. Boan also led the Dragons with six boards.
