Lucille Elsie Stansberry, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 11, 2014, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Fremont, to John E. and Clara K. (Meyer) Gressman.
Survivors include her son, Donald L. (Paula) Stansberry of Fremont; two daughters, Sandra K. Stansberry of Tiffin and Vickie L. (Dan) Ash of Millbury; two brothers, John E. Gressman Jr. and Donald W. (Marlene) Gressman, both of Fremont; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Stacy C. "Chuck" Stansberry in 2009 and Norman J. Stansberry in 1956; a daughter, Theresa A. Scalf in 1983; an infant daughter; a brother, Norman J. Gressman; a sister, Janet K. Gallo; and one great-grandson.
Lucille graduated in 1943 from Fremont Ross High School and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She retired as a winder from General Electric after 31 years where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club and GE Retirees. She also was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Tiffin Women of the Moose No. 846, the Tiffin Eagles Aerie No. 402 and various other clubs. Lucille enjoyed gardening, flowers and playing bingo.
Her funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with the Rev. Ken Wessler officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Fremont.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home. The V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary will conduct services at 3:30 p.m.
