Walters helps Mohawks preserve victory
ARCADIA - With three players hitting double digits, St. Wendelin had just enough to edge Arcadia, 43-40.
Gabe Walters led the way for the Mohawks tossing in 16 points. Walters also led the team in rebounding with 10. Peter Campbell and Nick Root completed the trio of double-digit scorers, scoring 13 and 11, respectively.
Arcadia had its own pair of double-digit scorers as Hayden Ramsey led the Redskins with 15 points, followed closely by teammate Josh Ireland with 14.
New Riegel pulls away from Vanlue
NEW RIEGEL - The Wildcats came into New Riegel's house and found themselves quickly domesticated after a second half meltdown led to a Blue Jackets' 64-50 win over Vanlue.
Vanlue held a 26-24 lead at halftime, but a 17-point surge launched the Blue Jackets ahead in the third period, and they didn't let up. New Riegel went on to outscore Vanlue 23-16 in the fourth to seal the victory.
Jake Dryfuse led New Riegel with 21 points. Michael Kirian and Tim Ink added 14 points each.
Chieftains get around Hornets
BASCOM - Ryan Lommerse turned in a double-double and two teammates combined for 20 points Saturday as Hopewell-Loudon held off Cory-Rawson, 48-44.
Lommerse led the charge with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Chieftains (11-8).
Garret Sendelbach registered 12 points and seven boards and Gauge Sadler netted eight points for H-L.
The Hornets got 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists from Grant Risner. Matthew Alspach scored 17 points and Ian Moser snared four steals.
Kaple helps BC dish up Bulldogs
CRESTLINE - Four Buckeye Central players scored in double digits and Cade Kaple dished out 10 assists in Saturday's 69-35 romp past North Central Conference foe Crestline.
Kaple also tallied seven points, and team highs with five rebounds and four steals for the Bucks (16-2, 9-1 NCC).
Austin Wurm and Seth Ollis scored 12 points each, Sam Robertson tossed in 11 and Grant Loy netted 10.
Stone Wurm and Robertson both added three steals, and Scott Heydinger and Loy both added three assists. Buckeye Central had 20 assists as a team.
Nate Coffman's 13 points and 11 boards paced the Bulldogs (3-14, 1-10).
Rams thunder off early
OLD FORT - Upper Scioto Valley jumped out 38-18 by halftime and rolled from there Saturday in a 74-59 win over Old Fort.
Dylan Hunsicker popped in 25 points for the Rams (17-1), who won their 16th in a row. Lane Hurley chipped in 16 points, Cameron Parker scored 11 and Woody Prater netted 10.
The Stockaders (13-5), who played one night after an emotional overtime Midland Athletic League win over Carey, got 21 points from Hunter Perry and 18 points and six rebounds from Maison Steyer.
Brad Bannister added three steals and three assists for Old Fort.
Despite the loss, Perry moved into seventh on the Midland Athletic League career scoring list. His 1,332 points put him between 1987 Hopewell-Loudon graduate Bill Riley (1,321) and 2010 New Riegel graduate Dustin Kinn (1,369).
