Albert Bietz, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday evening, Jan. 23, 2014, at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
He was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Kloestitz, Bessarabia, to Gottlieb and Emilie (Schlecht) Bietz. Sept. 26, 1948, he married Erna Steinwand in Pohlde, Germany. They immigrated with their family to Tiffin in February 1956.
Survivors include two sons, Hugo (Linda) Bietz of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Harry (Moira) Bietz of Hemet, Calif.; three daughters, Trudy (Mehdi) Razavi of Tiffin, Bruni Bietz of Columbus and Judy (Tom) Smith of Tiffin; three sisters-in-law, Alma Bietz of Calgary, Canada, Alma Steinwand of Herzberg, Germany, and Ida (Adolf) Esslinger of Pohlde, Germany; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Erna; brothers, Daniel and Fred; and sister, Alma.
Albert was a brick mason and retired from Hagerty Construction Co. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards, chess and gardening. Albert was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at First Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ken Gillikin and Ramin Razavi co-officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.
