Thelma Arlene (Young) Beavers, 90, of Liberty Center, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Fulton Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Thelma was born in Liberty Center to the late James and Maude Taylor-Young. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Burdette Beavers, whom she married May 25, 1940; a son, Burdette Junior Beavers; three grandsons, Scott Beman and Daniel and David Gilders; four brothers, William, Royce, Marion, and James Young; and a sister, Alice Russell.
Thelma is survived by four daughters, Kaye (Joe) Irving, Gloria (Robert) Gilders, Sue (Patrick) Hill and Gina (Dan) O'Neill; two sisters, Ruby Balser and Nancy (James) Mattin; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Young; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.
Thelma worked for Liberty Center Schools as a cook. She was a member of Liberty Center Fireman's Auxiliary and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Thelma was a Girl Scout leader for many years and she loved camping and crocheting. Her true love was spending time with her family.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Wright-Habegger Funeral Home, 302 E. Maple St., Liberty Center.
Her funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20 also at the funeral home with Pastor Keith Witte officiating. Burial will follow at Young Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Memorial contributions may be gifted to Liberty Center Fire Department or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
