RISINGSUN - A man was arrested after he led Risingsun police on a brief, high-speed chase Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesman from the Risingsun Police Department said the man, whose name is not yet being released, had been clocked doing 36 miles per hour in a 25 miles per hour zone, and after seeing police pursue him for a traffic stop, led an officer on a chase down Main Street.
Speeds reached between 70 and 80 miles per hour and the driver also failed to stop at stop signs.
As the vehicle began going southbound on US 23 at a high rate of speed, the driver then stopped , the spokesman said. The officer then took the driver out at gunpoint.
The driver is being held at the Wood County jail on charges including resisting arrest, reckless operation, fleeing and eluding, driving under suspension, possession of drugs, willful want and disregard for public safety and traffic control device violations.
