Thanks for keep people safe, warm
In addition to the law enforcement officers, paramedics, EMTs, firefighters, doctors, nurses, snow plow drivers and other public safety and medical personnel who staffed their posts during the latest arctic blast, we tip a cap to those readers might not think of - unless they were needed. That includes tow-truck drivers, and heating and plumbing specialists, plus those who deliver heating oil and LP gas. Thanks for risking the brutal cold to keep us safe and warm.
'Sing for the Red' has reprise
Hats off to Chris Chase at Madison Street Tavern for scheduling and planning a fundraiser for the local Red Cross - twice. "Sing for the Red," a karaoke competition to benefit the American Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot counties, originally was set for mid-December, but was cancelled by (what else?) a winter storm. The event has been reset for today. Registration opens at 8 p.m., with singing from 9-midnight. Registration is $10. For those with stage fright, a silent auction, games and prizes also are planned.
