A two-car detached garage in Wyandot County was destroyed after a fire Tuesday evening.
Sycamore Fire Chief Bryan Clouse said the cause of the fire, reported at 6:42 p.m. at 3206 CH 37, remains under investigation, but it does not appear to be suspicious.
Clouse said no injuries were reported and the residents were able to get vehicles out of the garage before they were affected by the fire.
"The homeowner saw smoke and did an excellent job of getting the family out away from the fire," Clouse said.
He said when firefighters arrived at the residence, the garage was fully engulfed in flames and the wind had blown flames on a tall pine tree near the residence. Siding on the house melted as a result.
Clouse said miscellaneous items were in the garage, as well as a wood burner.
He estimated damage between $30,000 and $40,000.
Clouse said McCutchenville, Carey and Upper Sandusky fire departments assisted at the fire.
