T-SPL to close for New Year's

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is to close at 3 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday in observance of the New Year.

The library is to re-open Thursday with regular hours.

Library to host Lego contest

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library's junior department is to host a Lego contest at 1 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Frost Kalnow room.

The program is for children ages 4 and older. Children are encouraged to create an original Lego creation prior to the competition.

Pre-registration is to begin Jan. 6 and run through Jan. 24.

Children are to bring their creations to the library and they are to be judged in categories for ages 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13 and up.

Participants are to be present to win and prizes are to be awarded to the creations receiving the most votes.

'Babies and Books' set for Jan. 7

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library has announced "Babies & Books" is at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 7 in the Junior Home room.

The program is to feature stories, rhymes, songs and finger plays.

Parents and caregivers can bring children ages birth to 24 months. Participants are to sign up for one session of language enrichment activities beginning Tuesday.

Library's TAB to meet

Tiffin Seneca Public Library's teen department is to reorganize the Teen Advisory Board in 2014.

TAB is to meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Junior Home room. Snacks are to be provided, and registration is necessary.

Teens in grades six through 12 are asked to join the group that is to help choose teen activities at the library and suggest books, movies, music and games for the library to purchase.

Bellevue to offer eMedia course

BELLEVUE - The Bellevue Public Library is to host Downloading eMedia at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 7.

The course is a review of the library's eMedia site, borrowing and downloading titles, and requesting titles not yet available to borrow.

Next date for 'Yarn Club'

BELLEVUE The Bellevue Public Library has announced Yarn Club is to meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 7.

The program is for beginning or experienced people interested in knitting, crocheting or sewing.

'Readers Book Club' to gather

BELLEVUE - "Rappin' Readers Book Club" is to meet at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Bellevue Public Library.

The program is for children ages 9 through 12. The group is to discuss "The Winter People" by Joseph Bruchac.

Pizza and refreshments are to be served.

Bellevue to host 'Winter Fun Day'

BELLEVUE - The Bellevue Public Library is to host "Winter Fun Day" 2-3:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

The program is for children ages 6 through 12. The program is to feature crafts, games, stories and snacks.

ATTICA - The Seneca East School Board of Education is to meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 6 in the board office.

New Riegel board to host public form

NEW RIEGEL - The New Riegel Schools Board of Education is to conduct a public hearing on its proposed fiscal year 2015 alternative tax budget at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 in the library.

The board's organizational meeting is to follow.

Sentinel students of the month for December

Sentinel Career and Technology Center has announced the students who have been named to the December student of the month list.

Students recognized include Halie Fitch, senior from Columbian High School and member of FFA; Taylor Gillig, senior from Columbian High School and class president of FEA; and McKenzie Zimmerman, senior from Columbian High School and member of FEA.

Local recruits in 2018 military academy class

BOWLING GREEN - Rep. Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, has announced his nominations from Ohio's Fifth Congressional District for Consideration for acceptance into the United States Air Force, Merchant Marine, Military and Naval academies in the class 2018.

Mikael Keiffer of Fostoria was selected for the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo., and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Seneca East has clean audit

Auditor of State Dave Yost announced Seneca East Local Schools has received the Auditor of State Award for a clean audit report.

Terra offers real estate classes

FREMONT - Terra State Community College and the Ohio Institute for Real Estate Studies is to offer pre-licensure real estate courses on Terra's campus for the spring semester.

Students may enroll in classes for either credit or non-credit.

Real estate classes are 6-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Jan. 7.

The courses are the four required courses for the real estate license exam and include Principles and Practices of Real Estate, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Law and Real Estate Appraisal.

Terra to offer bonus instant admission days

FREMONT - The spring semester at Terra State Community College is to begin Jan. 13. Terra is to offer an extra series of Instant Admission Days for new and returning students.

The Instant Admission days are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday; 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday; and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Students are able to complete the application process, complete placement testing and receive advising in preparation for orientation and registration. Assistance with financial aid forms is to also be available.

Participants are to bring official and final high school or college transcripts and applications are recommended to be completed before arriving on campus.

Students receive nursing pins

FREMONT - The ninth graduating class of Terra State Community College's Associate Degree Nursing program received nursing pins during a ceremony Dec. 18.

Area residents receiving nursing pins were Elma Felter, Richard Salazar and Rachel Salcedo of Clyde; Marci Brown and Patricia Hartman of Fostoria; Carrie Henney of Bellevue; Jamie O'Connel of Bradner; and Rachael Saldusky of Tiffin.

Local student named to OAC

Kali Fittro, 2012 Columbian High School graduate and Baldwin Wallace University student, has been named to the 2013 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team for her performance on the cross country team and in the classroom.

Tiffin resident makes dean's list
