Mary Ann Elchert-Huss, 95, of New Riegel, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Toledo, to Florian and Magdelena (Cook) Beck. She married Urban Elchert Jan. 4, 1941, and he died Nov. 16, 1964. She married Cletus Huss Jan. 11, 1969, and he died July 12, 2005.
Surviving are three daughters, Julia (Edward) Tiell of New Riegel, Thrasilla Keefe of Fostoria and Nadine (James) Ward of New Riegel; a son, Justin (Darlene) Elchert of New Riegel; a stepdaughter; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, sister, grandson and two stepsons.
Mary was a homemaker and worked for the former Bersted Manufacturing in Fostoria and RCA in Findlay. She was a member of All Saints Parish in New Riegel and its Rosary-Altar Society, and the Catholic Order of Foresters, and was a 1935 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. She loved to crochet and do counted cross-stitch work and will be remembered as a perfectionist with her crafts.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will begin at 5:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church in New Riegel, with Father Tim Kummerer presiding. The family will gather at the church at 9:30 a.m. and a rosary will be prayed at 10:15 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
