Estella Mary Logsdon, 95, of Alvada, passed away at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at her daughter's home in Carey.
She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Alvada, to John and Anna (Hoffbauer) Bugner. She married George William Logsdon May 3, 1941 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Alvada, and he died Oct. 27, 1987.
Surviving are four sons, Harold (Audrey) Logsdon of Findlay, Jim (Barbara) Logsdon of Alvada, David (Judith) Logsdon of Hood River, Ore., and Lawrence (Sara) Logsdon of Port Clinton; four daughters, Diana (William) Cherilla of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mary Jane (Ron) Jacoby of Carey, Kathleen (Randy) Frysinger of Alvada and Louann (David) Cook of Galena; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; 19 stepgreat-grandchildren; a stepgreat-great-
granddaughter; and two sisters, Clara Michels of Illinois and Rosina Might of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Logsdon; a grandson, Adam Logsdon; five brothers, Joseph, Albert, Frank, Raymond and Julius Bugner; and a sister, Emma Lafontaine.
Estella was a homemaker and a columnist for The Review Times for more than 25 years, supplying local news and events for the Alvada and New Riegel areas. She also had worked at the gift shop of Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria and sold Rawleigh products. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in New Riegel and the Rosary Altar Society, the Catholic order of the Foresters, St. Peter Church Choir and a lifetime member of the New Riegel Women of the Moose for more than 50 years, holding many offices.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Moose memorial service will take place at 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Chapel in Alvada, where the family will gather at 10 a.m. Father Tim Kummerer will preside, and burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
