Mary Ann Elchert-Huss, 95, of New Riegel, passed away at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Independence House, Fostoria.
She was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Toledo, to Florian and Magdelena (Cook) Beck. She married Urban Elchert Jan. 4, 1941, and he died Nov. 16, 1964. She then married Cletus Huss Jan. 11, 1969, and he died July 12, 2005.
Surviving are three daughters, Julia (Edward) Tiell of New Riegel, Thrasilla Keefe of Fostoria and Nadine (James) Ward of New Riegel; a son, Justin (Darlene) Elchert of New Riegel; a stepdaughter; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; a sister; a grandson; and two stepsons.
Mary was a homemaker and worked for the former Bersted Manufacturing, Fostoria, and RCA, Findlay. She was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel, and its Rosary-Altar Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and was a 1935 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, Fostoria.
She loved to crochet, do counted cross stitch and will be remembered as a perfectionist with her crafts.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will begin at 5:45 p.m.
Her Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church, New Riegel, with Fr. Tim Kummerer presiding. The family will gather at the church at 9:30 a.m. and a rosary will be prayed at 10:15 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
