BELLEVUE - One teenager was killed and another sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident in Thompson Township Sunday night.
The accident on SR 18, near CR 34, claimed the life of Garrett Holmes, 16, of Bellevue.
Sgt. Eric Short of State Highway Patrol said Holmes was driving a 2001 Ford westbound on SR 18. The vehicle drove off the left side of the road, went through a ditch and struck a barn and decorative landscape rocks. The vehicle went airborne and struck a tree, Short said.

Rescue personnel work at the scene of a single-vehicle accident on SR 18, near CR 34, Sunday.
Holmes was pronounced deceased at the scene, he said.
Short said the passenger, Dakota Schaffer, 17, of Bellevue, sustained "very serious" injuries. He first was taken to The Bellevue Hospital and then was taken by ground ambulance to University of Toledo Medical Center, he said.
Life Flight was unable to fly Sunday night due to low cloud cover, he said.
Short said he did not know what caused Holmes to lose control, and he did not know whether the boys were wearing seatbelts.
He said it was possible that speed was a factor in the crash. A reconstruction team is to investigate the crash further.
Short said the boys were traveling to Holmes' house and were about two-tenths of a mile from it.
The crash was reported to Seneca County Sheriff's Office at 9:13 p.m., a sheriff's office spokesman said.
