Geneva G. Smith, 69, of Sycamore, died at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at home.
She was born Jan. 6, 1944, in Fostoria, to Clow and Mary (Keller) Cook. She married Franklin D. Smith Sept. 23, 1966, and he survives.
Also surviving are two children, Franklin D. Smith Jr. of Clyde and Rodney J. Smith of Nevada; two grandchildren, Jori and Chase Smith; one brother, Norman O. (Georgette) Cook of Tiffin; and her caregiver, Robin Mitchem.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers, Robert, James, Merle, John, Bill, Richard and Paul Cook.
She was a homemaker and a 1963 graduate of Mohawk High School. She loved gardening and bingo when she was able. She loved sunbathing and being outdoors all she could. She found out she had cancer in February 2012 and never gave up. She wanted to live for her sons, grandchildren and her Japanese Chin named Rod. She suffered much but tried not to show it. She loved shopping and going out to eat with her sons and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Poole of Carey, who also took her to bingo.
A funeral for Geneva will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 W. Saffel Ave., Sycamore, with the Rev. Rick Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home.
