Lloyd Karcher

Lloyd Karcher aka, Elfonzo Doodle Finkel, 80, of Tiffin, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center, Upper Sandusky.

Lloyd was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Wyandot County, to the late J. Nelson and Winona (Swartz) Karcher. He married Clara (Harding) June 1, 1933, at Baseline United Church of Christ, Bloomville, and she survives.

Lloyd also is survived by his two sons, Patrick Karcher and Dennis (Jill) Karcher, both of Upper Sandusky; four brothers, Richard Karcher of Forest, Danny Karcher, Charles Karcher of Nevada and Roger Karcher of Sycamore; five sisters, Jane Cooley of Tiffin, Joyce Vogel of Carey, Ellen Hastings of Forest, Phyllis Chance of Nevada and Ruby Karcher of Upper Sandusky; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Lloyd retired from General Electric, farming and truck driving. He was a graduate of Bloomville High School and a member of Bloomville United Church of Christ. Lloyd was very active in horse racing, attending many area fairs. He was a longtime member of the Seneca County Horseman's Association, where he served as past president. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association and the Ohio Horseman's Association. Lloyd also was a member of the Jr. Fair Foundation where he served as the past president and one of the original founders, a 4-H advisor for more than 10 years and started the first dog club in Seneca County. Lloyd's favorite pastime was clowning. He loved to bring a smile and joy to people, young and old alike.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Karcher; two brothers, Raymond and Nelson Jr. Karcher; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Karcher.

His funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 N. Washington St., Tiffin, (419) 447-1221, with the Rev. Kathy Wirth officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bloomville United Church of Christ or to Cleveland Public Library talking book department.
