After Gen. Robert E. Lee ordered the disastrous "Picket's Charge" into the Union guns at Gettysburg, General Lee rose out into the shot and shell amongst his retreating troops saying, "This was all my fault!"
Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, on the evening before he ordered 150,000 troops to storm the beaches at Normandy, wrote a letter of resignation to the governmental leaders, taking full responsibility on himself if the siege would prove to be a failure.
President Harry Truman kept a sign on his desk in the oval office saying, "The buck stops here."
Our present president, during his first five years in office, has taken no responsibility whatever for any mistakes or failures. His answer was always, "I place blame for this situation on the former president."
In Benghazi, the murders of our ambassador and three other brave Americans were blamed on a YouTube video. As to the "Fast and Furious" disaster providing illegal guns to a Mexican drug cartel, leading to the death of an American Border Patrol officer (among others), President Barack Obama "knew nothing." When asked about the Internal Revenue Service scandal involving targeting of conservatives, the president said, "I just read about it in the newspapers."
This shifting of blame is always accompanied by a massive stonewalling effort to keep the truth from coming out.
Now, 90 million Americans will face having their medical insurance and their doctors taken from them - in spite of Obama's specific promises. Remember: "If you like your insurance, you can keep it. Period!" But now, Americans' losses of their insurance plans and the doctors they trust are all at fault of those evil insurance companies - not the president!
Remember the story about when George Washington was confronted with chopping down a cherry tree, he said, "I cannot tell a lie. I did it."
If that same question were put to our present president, I am sure his response would be, "George Bush did it."
Very truly yours,
Michael B. Lange,
