Joyce A. Theis, 66, of rural Fostoria, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at her home.
She was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Findlay, to Clarence I. Boes and M. Louise (Phillips) Boes. She married R. Michael Theis Jan. 8, 1966, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and he survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are her mother, M. Louise Boes of Fostoria; two children, Michelle M. (Philip) Theis of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bryan M. (Shari) Theis of Waterville; four grandchildren, Hunter, Braden, Madison and Kody Theis; two brothers, Bill (Chris) Boes of Fostoria and Michael (Vickie) Boes of Tucson, Ariz.; and three sisters, Barbara Boes of Fostoria, Diane Reiter of Tiffin and Colleen (Demetris) Agrotis of Montevideo, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence, and brother, Thomas C. Boes.
Joyce was a homemaker who retired in 2003 from Arcadia High School as a school cafeteria cashier. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, its Rosary Altar Society and a 1964 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. She liked knitting, baking the best mac-n-cheese and was an avid reader. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and was an Ohio State fan.
Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will begin at 3:45 p.m.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass in the parish hall.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Cemetery, New Riegel.
