Eugene Wayne Hickle, 86, of Fostoria, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
Eugene was born May 12, 1927, in Vanlue, to Leroy "Roy" and Marie (Fogle) Hickle.
Eugene is survived by his partner of 25 years, Ethel Hickle; six children, Sherry Walden of Gibsonburg, Michael Eugene (Mary) Hickle of Bettsville, Bradney Hickle of Maui, Hawaii, Bonita Marie Hickle of Fostoria, Mark (Lisa) Hickle of Tiffin and Kevin (Amanda) Hickle of Fostoria; a sister, Deliah Wagar of Fostoria; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David Hickle of Hoytville and Tommy Hickle of Bettsville.
Eugene worked as a heavy equipment operator for most of his life and was a member of the Fostoria VFW and AMVETS. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing shuffleboard. Eugene was a World War II United States Army and Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James, Leroy "Junior" Dale and Ross Hickle; and two sisters, Donna and Nancy Hickle.
Visitation for Eugene will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory, 301 Union St., Bettsville.
There will be a private family burial at a later date at Washington Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
