Area veterans are invited to participate in a Veterans' Stand Down event Nov. 20 at the American Legion hall, 2000 Buckland Ave., Fremont.
According to a release from WSOS Community Action, the event is aimed at connecting veterans who may be experiencing difficulties in housing with appropriate services. Hours are 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and a lunch is to be provided for all who attend, according to the release. Veterans who attend the event will be asked to show their DD214 papers.
Information booths at the event are to feature medical, financial, employment, housing, veterans' benefits, notary public services, and several other social services. Other local community service-providers are to be available.
The Stand Down event is aimed at veterans from Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Sandusky, Wood and Seneca counties.
The event is funded by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and local sponsors who have donated funds to help the veterans. Donations also are being accepted to provide services to other veterans.
