Upper Sandusky and New Riegel were the last local volleyball teams standing. Both won conference titles (Upper Sandusky in the NCC and New Riegel in the MAL), both won district titles (Upper Sandusky in Division III and New Riegel in Division IV)?and both are represented on the All-Ohio first team.
Upper Sandusky's Taylor Graboski, who will lead her team into Friday's state semifinal, and New Riegel's Kara Scherger were named to the first team by the Ohio High School?Volleyball Coaches Association in their respective divisions.
Graboski has 355 kills on the year, tops in the North Central Conference. She is joined by teammate Jenna Holly, who was named second team.
Holly, the team's libero, has 431 digs, and picked up her 1,000th career dig during the year.
Also in Division III, Mohawk's Julie Adelsperger and Kasey?Adelsperger were named?All-Ohio third team.
Kasey Adelsperger led the Midland Athletic League with 372 kills Julie Adelsperger recorded 291. Mohawk advanced to the district finals, where it fell in five games to Upper Sandusky.
Scherger was a key part of New?Riegel winning the district title this year. She tallied 315 kills, 86 aces and 364 digs. Scherger's New Riegel teammate Lauren Ladd was named second team. Ladd had 333 kills and 71 blocks. Buckeye Central's Brooke Karl was named second team and Hopewell-Loudon's Courtney Burns was named honorable mention.
Burns finished the year with 336 kills and 281 assists.
In Division II, Columbian's Madison Williams was named honorable mention All-Ohio.
