Connie R. Nagel

Connie R. Nagel, 77, of Attica, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 23, 2013, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Seneca County, to Claude and Mary (Braden) Swartzmiller. She married Ralph Eugene Nagel April 15, 1956, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Attica, and he survives in Attica.

Other survivors include a daughter, Tami (Marvin) Diehm of Attica; three sons, Thomas and Todd (Amy) Nagel, both of Attica, and Timothy (Tanya) Nagel of Bloomville; 11 grandchildren, Megan (David) Donaldson, Logan Nagel, Angie (Pat) Gaietto, Jeremy (Shannon) Roop, Tiffany (Jeremy) Snavely, Joey, Billy, and Johnny Diem, Haley (Colton) Carrick and Katlyn and Braden Nagel; seven great-grandchildren, Andy Felter, Jared Bower, Alec and Collin Roop, Dominic and Isaac Gaietto and Reid Donaldson; three sisters, Phyllis Neil and Lois Ziegler of Bellevue and Sharon (Al) Leach of Florida; and five brothers, Newton (Betty) Swartzmiller of Attica, Jim (Sandy) Swartzmiller of Columbus, Dick Swartzmiller of Florida, William (Judy) Swartzmiller of Mansfield and Robert (Judy) Swartzmiller of Bellevue.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith and Larry Swartzmiller , and her parents.

Connie was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Attica, and a 1955 graduate of Attica High School. She was a huge supporter of the Seneca East PTO and Athletic Boosters. She helped start the concession stand and 200 Club. She was an avid Michigan fan and enjoyed taunting OSU fans. She especially loved watching and supporting all her grandchildren in their sports and fair activities.

Connie was a homemaker but had worked for three years at Dutchtown Hatchery, New Washington, and 15 years at Mack's Grocery Store, Attica.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Attica, with Pastor Edward Hunker officiating. Burial will follow at Attica-Venice Cemetery, Attica.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville.

Memorial contributions may be made to SE Athletic Boosters or to In His Care Learning Center.
