Bennie W. Zielke, 80, of Carey, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 8, 1932, in Protection, Kansas, to Bennard and Elva (Shaw) Zielke. He married Margaret R. Hucke Oct. 11, 1958, in Carey, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, and she survives in Carey.
Also surviving are two children, Diane Hughes of Tipton, Ind., and Ronald Zielke of Columbus; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Patricia Collins; and infant brother and sister.
He served as a corporal in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a scripture service will be at 7:45 p.m.
His Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, with Rev. Paul Faroh, OFM Conv, officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Carey, with military graveside rites conducted by Carey Honor Guard.
