BOWLING GREEN - Amanda Cahill and Lexi Weber are Columbus-bound.
The Clyde doubles team advanced to the Division II State Tennis meet to be held next week, finishing third at the Bowling Green district meet.
The top three teams at the district meet advance to state.
Cahill and Weber started the day by losing their semifinal match to Lexington's duo of Eliser Betscher and Jillian Earnest, 6-3, 6-2, then rebounded to top Ottawa Hills' Megan Healy and Kelsey Berry, 6-2, 6-2 and advance.
Columbian soccer claims first NOL title
ONTARIO - Columbian's soccer team got some momentum going into the postseason Saturday.
That momentum came in the form of a Northern Ohio League title.
The Tornadoes got goals from Nathaniel Gilmer and Kevin Miller, and beat Ontario 2-0 to claim the first NOL championship.
"It was definitely a building block going into postseason," said TC coach Rob Ochier. "Great win. The team's played well all season, winning the first NOL title was pretty special for the team. [It was] an all around good night for us."
Columbian finished its regular season 12-4, 5-1 in the NOL. Its first tournament game will be next Saturday, when the Tornadoes play either Willard or Lexington at Frost-Kalnow Stadium.
Gilmer's goal came off a penalty kick, while Miller's goal was assisted by Mike Brady.
TC's Josh Gibson had five saves in goal, and the Tornadoes out-shot the Warriors 19-7.
Ontario's Ali Hussain had 15 saves in goal in the loss. The Warriors slipped to 6-7-3, 2-3-1 in the NOL.
Blue Devils swept by No. 2 McComb
MCCOMB - There certainly are easier ways to end a regular season.
Carey traveled to unbeaten McComb Saturday, facing a Panther squad ranked second in the state.
The Panthers swept the match 25-10, 25-10, 25-7.
Shelby Kin smashed eight kills, while Logan Johnson had 13 digs and Claire Allison 12 digs for the Blue Devils, which sit at 14-8. McComb is 22-0.
