The Blue Jackets (15-0) remained perfect in seven Midland Athletic League tries, beating Fremont St. Joe, 25-17, 25-12, 25-9.
Lauren Ladd had a double-double with 10 kills and 13 assists for the Blue Jackets. Morgan Noftz had 20 assists, 15 digs and three kills and Kara Scherger had 13 kills, 13 digs and four aces. Taylor Arbogast had 13 kills, Brittany Gillig tallied nine digs and Natalie Reinhart had six assists.
BC keeps pace in NCC
NEW WASHINGTON - Buckeye Central made the North Central Conference race a bit more interesting Thursday night by knocking off Galion in five games.
The win keeps the Bucks tied with Upper Sandusky atop the NCC with 9-1 records while Galion falls to 8-2.
Buckeye Central (15-2) found itself in a 2-0 hole after losing 23-25, 22-25. But the Bucks picked up the third game, 25-20, outlasted Galion (13-4) in the fourth, 26-24 and took the fifth set, 15-9.
Jenna Delarber had 29 kills in the victory to go with her three blocks. Hailey Hildebrand had eight kills. Kilee Kimmel had 35 assists and three aces. Brooke Karl had 39 digs and Aleesha Siesel had 19 digs. Emily Weithman had 23 assists.
Upper Sandusky blasts Wynford in three
BUCYRUS - It wasn't easy but Upper Sandusky took down Wynford in three games Thursday night, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16.
"A much-improved Wynford team gave us all we wanted, which is a credit to their kids and coaching staff," said Upper Sandusky coach Matthew McConnaughey, whose team remained tied with Buckeye Central atop the NCC with a 9-1 mark. "The Lady Rams stepped up their blocking in sets two and three, which helped us to win the match."
Upper Sandusky was paced at the net with kills from Molly Owens (8), Jessi Holly (8) and Taylor Graboski (7). The defense shined with four blocks from Graboski and three each from Owens and Kalene Johnson. Emma Smith doled out 28 assists and had 10 digs. Jenna Holly had 19 digs.
Wynford falls to 6-9 overall with a 5-5 mark in the NCC.
Lakota picks up first league win by topping N. Baltimore
KANSAS - Lakota picked up its first MAL victory of the year with a 25-18, 25-14, 25-21 win against North Baltimore.
The Raiders (3-11, 1-6 MAL) got 14 kills and three blocks from Destiney Long-Meyer while Bree Long-Meyer had eight kills, five digs and a block. Alaina Bickford had 17 digs and Aubrey Bickford tallied 10 digs, 17 assists and three aces. Katie Park slammed seven kills and had four digs.
Columbian spikes Shelby
SHELBY - Columbian picked up a big victory Thursday night in Northern Ohio League action, dumping Shelby, 25-16, 25-7, 25-19.
"We had a nice night from everybody. Offense-wise, we cleaned it up tonight," said Columbian coach Bill Bonham, whose team improved to 10-8 overall and 5-3 in the NOL. "Our efficiency was very good tonight and that was something we threw in their face before the night started."
Haley Sendelbach had 11 kills while teammates Alyssa Price and Madison Williams each hammered 10 kills. Michaela Sharlow had six digs, four kills and three aces and Taylor Reinbolt had eight digs.
Mohawk tops Seneca East
SYCAMORE - Mohawk kept the heat on the MAL league race with a 25-6, 25-16, 25-17 victory against Seneca East.
Kasey Adelsperger had 14 kills, Julie Adelsperger tallied nine and Mya Morris lined eight. Clara Adelsperger dished out 34 assists, five digs and four kills. Taylor McClain had seven digs. Ali Konkle had five aces.
Bettsville bested by Blue Devils
CAREY - Carey topped Bettsville in three Thursday night, 25-7, 25-8, 25-8.
Shelby Kin had 10 kills and Shelby Seifert lined eight while picking up four aces. Makenzie Wentling had eight aces and Sydney Wentling served up four while dishing out 29 assists. Claire Allison had nine digs and Logan Johnson picked up seven for the Blue Devils (9-5, 4-3 MAL).
St. Wendelin outlasts Old Fort
OLD FORT - It took five games but the Mohawks beat Old Fort, 27-29, 25-18, 23-25, 25-8, 15-9.
St. Wendelin improves to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the MAL while Old Fort falls to 6-8 and 3-4 in the MAL.
St. Wendelin was paced by Kamryn Troike's 13 kills and 15 blocks. Becca Starn had 12 kills and 14 blocks. Olivia Zimmerman had 16 blocks. Allie Rutter had 23 assists and 27 digs in the victory while teammate Hailee Burns also had 27 digs.
Old Fort had 13 kills and 27 digs from Jordan Magers. Allison Adelsperger had 29 assists and 14 digs while Sara Bell had 11 assists, four kills, four digs and three aces. Shelby Bilger had 40 digs. Sydney Clouse had six kills and Morgan Kemenah added five.
