GALION - Buckeye Central hit the links at Valley View golf course Wednesday, with a win at its sectional venue over Crestline 175-193.
Adam McGinnis scored 40 and was awarded course medalist. Tanner Zaebst was two strokes behind carding 42. Also contributing for the Bucks were Matt Sheibley 46 and Aaron Walter firing in a 47.
The win puts Buckeye Central at 14-2 overall and 12-2 in North Central Conference Play.
The Crestline Bulldogs fall to 4-12 and 2-12 in the NCC.
Not even a sprinkle for Storm against TU
Tiffin University (4-1, 2-1 GLIAC) blanked Lake Erie 3-0, with a goal in the first half and two more in the second half.
The Dragon's scored a goal in the 24th minute when Ryan Johnstone netted a goal off the assisted rebound from Smart Osadolor to lead 1-0 at the half. Teamwork was the story of the second half, when Emmanuel Adjei scored off the rebound from Alex Tuliraba to go up 2-0. The final goal came at the 86th minute when Calin Vadana shot one in off a through ball from Michael McPeek.
TU outshot the Storm 19-9 with Jeremy Ashley making five saves in 90 minutes.
'Berg women fall
2-0 to Wittenberg
Even with eight saves Heidelberg was unable to match the high power offense of Wittenburg Wednesday night at home.
Heidelberg (1-6-1) was unable to get any offense going, only getting off one shot to the Wittenberg's 17.
The first goal came off an assist by Wittenberg's Kayla Murphy to Tobie Weston at the 53 minute mark.
In the second period, the Scots scored off a three on one break shot by Kayla Murphy to the upper left corner at the 67-minute mark.
The Student Princes were unable to answer back, only having one shot on goal the entire game by Rachel Gilbert.
Heidelberg goes distance in win
HIRAM - Heidelberg's volleyball team (5-9) took Hiram (10-5) to five full sets to win 3-2.
A game of back and fourth in victories saw Heidelberg take the first set, 25-20.
Hiram answered back in the second set, 25-21. The Student Princes won the third set, 25-23. Yet, the Terriers held on to win the fourth set, 25-22.
Heidelberg rallied in a big way to finish off Hiram, winning 15-5.
Amber Welfle led the charge for the 'Berg with five aces, 19 kills, and 13 digs. Alexa Frank added five aces , 29 assists, and eight digs to keep the defense going. The Student Princes' Sarah Parker tagged on five aces and 13 kills, and Jamie Kluding contributed five aces, 11 kills, and eight digs for the evening.
Shariff's OT goal lifts Heidelberg
GROVE CITY, Pa. - Hamid Shariff's goal off a Christopher Koczak pass in overtime was the deciding play in Heidelberg's 2-1 win over Grove City.
With the win, the Student Princes improved to 5-2 this season.
The Student Princes opened the scoring 12 1/2 minutes in, when Ryan Homoki put in an unassisted goal. Grove City tied it right before the 37th minute, when Stephen Betteridge scored off a David Wurmlinger pass.
Grove City fell to 3-4-1 with the loss. Its goalkeeper, Ben Weaver, had two saves. Matthew Stevens had five saves in goal for Heidelberg.
HU men top Defiance
Zach Schwenning and Benjamin Moore won a singles and doubles match, leading Heidelberg's men's tennis team to a 5-4 win over Defiance.
Schwenning defeated James Demeo, 6-0, 6-1, while Moore topped Ryan Nelson 6-3, 5-7, 7-0 (6-3). Schwenning and Demeo then teamed to beat Cord Speelman and Nelson, 6-3, 6-3.
Heidelberg also got singles wins from Dorian Kempf, who beat the Yellow Jackets' Mike Ross 6-1, 6-4 and Tyler Flickinger, who topped Speelman, 6-3, 6-3.
