Newly elected Agricultural Society members Mary Kingseed, Randall Gittinger, Phyllis Gerritsen, Ron Hoover, Bruce Henney, Joline Humbert and Linda Brendle were sworn into their duties by Seneca County Commissioner Jeff Wagner Tuesday night. New officers elected included Calvin Staib, president; Henney, vice president; Gerritsen, secretary; and Robert Rainey, treasurer.
Tim Wasserman from OSS Joint Solid Waste District addressed board members seeking and receiving permission to again use the fairgrounds in 2014 as the collection site for household hazardous waste, tires and appliances.
OSU extension agent Ann Golden said she has been planning programs with schools and noted that with her retirement, a new agent will start in the first quarter of 2014.
The animal sale committee received $428,041.92 from buyers and $426,850.39 has been disbursed to exhibitors. The last committee meeting revealed buyers still owe $9,621.84.

Approved the treasurer's report of $86,381.28 in all accounts as of Aug. 31.
Set 8 a.m. Saturday as a work day to repair the restroom roof behind the grandstands.
Increased the storage rate for campers to $6.50 per foot.
Approved Verizon erecting a communication tower on fair grounds for cellphone use at a rate of $600 monthly.
Reminded members to be considering choices for the outstanding fair supporter and Hall of Fame nominees.
Approved the junior fair foundation donating $25,000 toward the tar sealing and chipping of blacktop before the next flea market.
Heard the junior fair foundation has purchased another golf cart and Clouse Electric is to replace eight hand dryers in the restrooms.
Learned the next flea market is Oct. 5-6.
Discussed grading the tractor pull track. Examination is needed as clay has been added for drainage.
Heard the junior fair foundation is obtaining estimates for replacing doors on the education building.
Is obtaining quotes for the addition of a restroom near the front gate.
