Wanda B. Meredith

Wanda B. Meredith, 89, of Tiffin, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, Sept. 7, 2013, at her son's home in St. Clair, Mich., following a short illness.

She was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Marysville, Mich., to Forest and Arzola (Freeland) Gilbert. She married Neil Meredith Dec. 31, 1942, they later divorced and he preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, John G. (Michele) Meredith of St. Clair, Mich., and Mark D. Meredith of Norwalk; two daughters, Becky L. (John) Traxler of Leesville and Debra K. Meredith-Peters of Punta Gorda, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Marcia L. Meredith in 1969; brother, DeForest Gilbert; and sister, Marilyn Churchill.

Wanda graduated in 1941 from Flint Central High School and then from Flint Business School. She moved to Tiffin in 1955 and was an executive secretary at Seneca County Board of Education in the early 1970s, retiring after 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Tiffin, where she was active in the United Methodist Women, the choir, various committees, and part-time secretary. She was a past president of the Emblem Club with the Tiffin Elks Lodge No. 94. Wanda enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida and volunteering at the Sharing Kitchen, church, Meals on Wheels, March of Dimes and the American Heart Association.

Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Hannah Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
