Harold Paul McDermott Sr., 75, of rural Sycamore, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at his home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1938, in Crawford County, to Robert R. and Geraldine (Cross) McDermott. He married Alice (Kessler) McDermott Nov. 26,1960, and she survives.
Also surviving are two children, Harold P. (Jeannie) McDermott Jr. of rural Sycamore and Jeff McDermott of rural Carey; three grandchildren, Sabrina, Robert and Erin McDermott; two stepgrandchildren, Samantha Daniel and Domonique Ebert; three sisters, Genevive Schlack of Carey, Louise (Francis) Wyeth of Sycamore and Joanne Schaeffer of Fort Myers, Fla.; and one brother, Robert E. (Wanda) McDermott of Saint Petersburg, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Goelz, and a twin sister, Pauline McDermott, in addition to his parents.
Harold was a retired truck driver, first hauling steel for 24 years for Aero Trucking and then retiring from Frank Kirby Trucking, Upper Sandusky. Harold attended Sycamore High School. For hobbies he loved mowing lawns, camping, riding his Gator, watching court shows on TV and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, with Pastor Joe Trester officiating.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today, Sept. 10, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.
