Outlook: Julia Daniel, the Mohawk's top cross country runner for the last several years, has graduated. The Warriors don't have any seniors on this season's roster.

But Cleveland says he's excited.

It's easy to see why. He has a group of freshmen who are used to winning.

"I'm excited to coach this squad. They've won the league in junior high. There's a lot of talent. We lost Julia Daniel, it'd be nice to have her around one more year, but I think our juniors are doing a nice job."

Leading the group is Shauna Daniel, who won the MAL meet in junior high.

"She's hungry and had a whale of a summer," Cleveland said. "We're ready to race and see where we're at."

Cleveland has another reason to be confident.

"The big thing is, I think we're pretty deep," he said. "I have a lot of freshman there, and I think they're all pushing for a spot on varsity."
