Outlook: Fostoria returns just one veteran from a team which finished seventh in the Northern Buckeye Conference for the second year in a row. And with only one senior on this year's team, the focus is on the future.
"We're not going to be any good this year, but we're definitely moving in the right direction," Oestreich said. "We've got some kids who are very coachable, who are working at it, trying to get better and they're having some fun. That's what I think is most important."
Youth will play a big role in the team getting better, with two sophomores and five freshmen on the 10-member team.
"They're going to hopefully carry us for a couple years to come," Oestreich said. "Our best golfer is a freshman, Trey Yates. We don't want to put too much pressure on him, but we're hoping he does well. We're trying to surround him with a few other pieces. He's a hard worker and a very good student of the game."
With only one senior and one returning letterwinner, Oestreich hopes the rest of the Redmen mirror that this year and next as they try to build up the program.
"We haven't really talked too much about goals. Our only main concern right now is good, solid contact and trying to get better," he said. "Our goal is to try to compete here and in the next couple years.
"We've got a real good group of guys and I think they're having a blast so far," Oestreich said.
