Others: Freshman Andrea Keckler.

Outlook: Fostoria graduated only one runner and has an NBC second-teamer (Keeley) and an honorable mention runner (Eufracio) among its five veterans, but the Redmen still face plenty of challenges.

There's youth, with no one older than a sophomore, and numbers, with only six on the team.

"It's going to be kind of a little bumpy start to get going," Cousin said.

"Just can't lose anybody," she said.

Still, the goals this year are to work hard, develop individual growth and advance at the end of the season, Cousin said.

"We chit-chatted some about some of the expectations. They definitely want to make some sort of impression on the league," she said. "And also, just try to improve PR so that way, by the end of the season, they have more of an opportunity to advance to a higher level of competition."

But where youth is a disadvantage, Cousin thinks the experience of those sophomores should pay off because the group will be together for the next few years.

"I think that's an advantage, and I think having them and only one incoming freshman, they can take her under their wing and bring her up pretty quick from that junior high level racing to a higher level of competition," she said.
