Helen M. Phillips, 91, formerly of Vanlue, died at 8:14 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Hancock County, the daughter of Roy and Juanita (Corbin) Sullenberger. She married Ralph R. "Doc" Phillips Sept. 21, 1940, and he preceded her in death June 1, 2000.
Surviving are her four children, Sharon K. (John Steven) May and Fred D. (Nancy C.) Phillips, both of Vanlue, Terry (Lois) Phillips of Tiffin and Rick (Donna) Phillips of Columbus, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Phillips; and two brothers, Karl and Ray Sullenberger.
A 1939 graduate of Vanlue High School, Helen and her husband formerly owned and operated D & H Meat Market, Vanlue. Helen loved cooking and baking, especially butterscotch pies; crocheting and scrapbooking. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Vanlue.
Friends and family will be received from 4-8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home with the Rev. David Noel and the Rev. Erma Metzger officiating.
Private graveside services will be at a later date at Lee Cemetery, near Vanlue.
