A spokesman from Fostoria Fire Division said residents in the 400 block of West North Street were evacuated from their homes after a gas line broke while city crews were digging in the area. He said the crews had been digging for another line when they hit and broke a gas line.
The incident occurred just before 8:30 a.m., according to Fostoria Police reports
The gas company responded to the area and repaired the line. Residents were able to return to their homes about 45 minutes later.
