Tiffin police are advising businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit $100 bills.
Tiffin Police Chief Fred Stevens said police recently have taken two reports of incidents in which counterfeit $100 bills were passed.? In both instances, the bills were passed by a black male. Stevens said the $100 bills were found to be on a bleached five-dollar bill and can pass a marker test.
He said if anyone is handed a $100 bill, the markings on the bill should be checked, as they cannot be bleached away. When held up to a light source every bill will have a word in the paper indicating what denomination the bill actually is. ?Anyone with information about the counterfeit money is asked to contact the police department at (419) 447-2323.
