Janis C. Kirby, 76, of Tiffin, died at 2:17 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, in the emergency room at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
Janis was born June 2, 1937, in Tiffin, to William R. and Corleen (Thome) Stauffer. She married Loyd M. Kirby, they later divorced and he preceded her in death in January of 2011.
Survivors include her three children, Amanda Kirby of Toledo, Raphael (Judy) Kirby of Tiffin and Rodrick (Jodi) Kirby of Bloomville; five grandchildren, Spencer, Logan, Emma, Jacob and Karlee Kirby; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Kirby; and a brother, William Stauffer of Tiffin.
Janis taught first grade at New Riegel Elementary School for 40 years and was a member of All Saint's Parish, New Riegel, where she was active with their Altar Rosary Society. Janis also was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge and the Retired School Teachers. Janis was a 1955 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and a 1959 graduate of Heidelberg College.
Janis also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jeff Stauffer; and a sister, Pam Young.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at All Saint's Parish, New Riegel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Riegel Elementary Library.
