Tiffin City Council's Law and Community Planning committee approved the creation of an ordinance allowing the city to create a "revitalization district" during a meeting Monday evening.
If the ordinance is approved by city council, it would allow 15 additional restaurant-style liquor permits in the approved area.
The area is zoned industrial and commercial and does not include any residentially zoned areas.
"We're looking at ways to generate revenue without raising taxes and this is a terrific way to do that," said Mayor Aaron Montz. "It would create more jobs and more businesses in the community."
