The 2013 Tiffin-Seneca Heritage festival is about six weeks away, but organizers have been planning for months for a successful event. They are looking for participants in a Tiffin-style "Amazing Race" and entries for the inaugural Independent Car Show.
Based on the "Amazing Race" television reality show, teams of two people will travel around Seneca County to uncover clues, complete challenges and race against other teams to win. Each team is to receive all the information they will need to compete.
The following rules apply:
At least one member of each team must be 21 or older.
Each contestant must complete at least three challenges.
Elimination challenges are to be done throughout the race, and they will be used to determine the top 12 teams.
The entry fee is $10 if the form is turned in by Aug. 15. The fee is $20 after that date.
The race and challenges start promptly at 8 a.m. Sept. 21 in the Tiffin Mall parking lot.
One team will be the grand prize team winner.

This year, the festival committee has decided to host its first car show. It is to take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 22 on South Washington Street in downtown Tiffin. Any four-wheeled vehicle can enter as long as it can be judged in one of the following categories: classic, everyday, muscle or import.
There will be a plaque for each winner of the groups, plus a People's Choice Award. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Sept. 22 in front of The Ritz Theater. Judging is to be done at 1 p.m. and awards given at 3 p.m. All vehicles must be removed from the judging area by 5 p.m.
The registration form and fee of $5 per vehicle must be turned in by Aug. 15. Call Melody Snyder at (419) 618-9950 for details and registration.
Also, hot air balloon ride raffle tickets are for sale now for $10. The winner receives an hour-long hot air balloon ride.
Craft vendors wanted
Exhibitors are being accepted now for the Frost Parkway Arts and Crafts Area at the Heritage Festival. Booths are to be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 21 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 22. The fees range from $35-$70, depending on the size of the space. Electrical service is limited.
Each vendor is asked to submit a photo of his or her wares. Also, the committee requests vendors to donate an item for the festival fundraising raffles.

The committee prefers all contracts be returned by Aug. 15, but late entries will be accepted with a 10 percent late fee. For questions, call Cheryl at (567-220-6079.
The parade for the 35th annual Tiffin -Seneca Heritage Festival is set for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 21 through downtown Tiffin. Parade entries are being accepted through Aug. 20. Forms are available online at www.tiffinfestival.com.
The fee is $25 for political entries and free for all other units. Late entries may be accepted if registered by Aug. 30. Confirmation letters are to be sent by Sept. 7, along with instructions for the line-up.
