Allen Eiry Senior Center is to host a rummage sale Friday as a fundraiser for the center.
Diane Culver, executive director of Allen Eiry, said the sale was conducted last year and was a successful event. This year's sale, she said, is the result of an upcoming renovation of the center, to clear out items that will not be used after the renovation and make room for new pieces.
A broad range of items is to be available, Culver said, from a player piano and organ to craft/sewing materials and kitchen tools. Some of the items available, she said, are "worth some money."
In addition to pieces from the center itself, Culver said donations are being accepted at Allen Eiry 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday for anyone who would like to contribute items to the sale. Most donations will be accepted, she said, with the exceptions of TVs and clothing.
The sale is to start at 9 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m., Culver said, and proceeds will assist Allen Eiry with the everyday running of the center.
Allen Eiry is at 28 Hopewell Ave., and provides services to members of the community who are 50 years of age and older. Activities include health and educational programs, as well as yoga, tai chi, Zumba, social activities and trips.
Culver said volunteers are essential to the success of Allen Eiry, and are always needed.
