Keith B. Owen

Keith B. Owen, 72, of Republic, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, at his home, the RKO Ranch in Republic.

He was born July 15, 1941, in Bloom Township, Seneca County, to William (Decker) and Laura B. (Taylor) Owen. He married Rita M. Kohlenberg (his loving wife) June 21, 1986, in Tiffin, and she survives in Republic.

Other survivors include a daughter from his first marriage, Ann A. (Jim) Kear of Clyde; two grandchildren, Paige and Parker Kear of Clyde; a brother, Edgar (Jane) Owen of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Owen of Honolulu, Hawaii; and three nieces, Dawn Dunaway of North Ridgeville, Joan Rhoad of Put-in-Bay and Janice Gomez of Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lewis; and two sisters, Joyce Foreman and Brenda Owen.

Keith was a 1959 graduate of Bloomville High School, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, a graduate and life member of the FBI National Academy, life member of the Fraternal Order of the Police Lodge No. 128, life member of the AMVETS, a member of the Green Springs VFW and American Legion, and a member of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and drinking his Blatz beer.

Keith was a captain and 27-year veteran of the Tiffin Police Department. He retired in July 1989 as a police detective.

His memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Jan Kucera officiating.

Burial will be at a later date; therefore, military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans' Council of Tiffin at the funeral home following the memorial service.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour before the time of the memorial service Friday. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 128 will conduct a service at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care, Tiffin.
