William Marion Sherman Sr.

William Marion Sherman Sr., 75, of Avon Lake and formerly of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at his home, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Nov. 28, 1937, in Republic. He served our country as an Army Reserve, and then entered the trucking industry where he worked as a truck driver for more than 40 years.

Mr. Sherman attended the Church of the Open Door, Elyria. He enjoyed working in his shop, family gatherings and traveling. He also loved to share his trades with anyone who was willing to listen and learn. William was a member of the Al Koran Shrine, Al Koran Mariners, Valley of Cleveland, Lorain County Scottish Rite Society and Seneca Lodge No. 0790, Republic.

He was a loving husband for 35 years to Barbara (nee Wanstroth); beloved father of John Allen, Robert Eugene, William M. Jr. (Brooke) and Beth Ann (deceased); grandfather of Bryce; son of the late Hazel and Carl Sherman; brother of Charles (deceased), Gerald (Dorothea), Ronald, Walter, Laura Jean Ritterman, Melba (Vince) Lucius, Karen (Tom) Schubach and Rick Sherman.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake. A Masonic service will begin at 7 p.m. conducted by Mid Century Lodge.

Graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Oakland Cemetery, 2917 Milan Road, Sandusky, with Pastor Robert Wickens officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be forwarded to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
