David W. Ritchie, 83, of Melmore, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.
David was born Aug. 22,1929, in Tiffin, to David and Sallie (Estep) Ritchie. He married Mary J. "Polly" Mohr April 9, 1950.
Surviving are his loving wife; one daughter, Dr. Misty Ritchie-Morano and her husband, Lou Morano; and one grandson, Ronan Morano.
David was a 1947 graduate of Bloomville High School. He attended Heidelberg College where he was a member of the concert choir and Madrigals. He also was a member of the former Tiffin Male Chorus and the former Tiffin Actors Group. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of Bloomville American Legion Post No. 434. He owned Ritchie Masonry Service, and was later a rural letter carrier for the Tiffin Post Office from which he retired in 1994.
David was a member of Melmore United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and choir director for many years, and on other various church committees.He enjoyed playing pinochle, watching sports (especially golf) and spending time with his extended family.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Jane-Ann Clarke officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, where Sycamore American Legion Post No. 250 will conduct a military graveside service.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today, July 24, at the funeral home.
