Fort Meigs to usher
in Fourth with events
PERRYSBURG - Fort Meigs is to host a special event noon-5 p.m. Thursday with music, games and displays.
A recreation of the 1813 Fort Meigs Independence Day celebration is set for 2 p.m. with an 18-cannon salute and fife and drum music.
Admission is free for active military and children age 5 and younger, $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $4 for students.

Prayer service hopes
to aid religious liberty
FOSTORIA An ecumenical prayer service is at 7 this evening at St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
The interdenominational service is designed to bring people of faith together to pray for the protection of religious liberty.

Garden tour scheduled
NORWALK - The annual Master Gardener/Historical Society Garden Tour of Norwalk is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 13.
Featured are five gardens of different sizes and types, plus a wetland park with a boardwalk for nature lovers and hikers.
Tickets are available at Schild's IGA Supercenter, 171 Milan Ave., Firelands Museum, 4 Case Ave., and Mak's Art Studio, 112 Milan Ave, all in Norwalk. On tour day, tickets will be available at Schild's and Firelands Museum starting at 9:30 a.m.
This is a self-guided tour, rain or shine. Tickets are $10.
ElderCollege planning North Carolina excursion
FREMONT - Terra State Community College's ElderCollege program this year is offering an October trip to Asheville, N.C., and the Biltmore Estate.
Participants are to travel by bus for a six-night, five-day trip to the Asheville area. In addition to the estate, travelers are to visit the St. Lawrence Basilica and the Folk Art Center and receive a guided tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Photos document hunger at new exhibit
TOLEDO - The Toledo Museum of Art has opened an exhibition, "Witness to Hunger," that runs through Aug. 9 in the Community Gallery at the museum.
Photographed and juried by Toledo area residents facing hunger, the images offer a window into the challenges and triumphs of their world.
Admission is free. The museum is at 2445 Monroe St., Toledo.
TDC bowlers place
at Olympic competition
Three athletes from Tiffin Developmental Center participated
in a men's 30-and-older division for bowling at the 2013 Ohio Special Olympics Saturday in Columbus.
Pat Barton and Sean McNamara received bronze medals and Moses Gillam placed fourth.
