FOSTORIA - Fostoria Fire Division personnel fought a fire at 107 S. Wood St., a vacant building, Sunday morning.
According to a Fostoria Police Department report, a person reported black smoke coming from the building at 7:13 a.m. Sunday.
Capt. Jim Walters of Fostoria Fire Division said the cause looked to be intentional and possibly was arson. There was no electricity or gas being supplied to the building, he said.
The incident was under investigation Sunday and was to be turned over to the fire chief today.
Walters said the fire started on the first floor in the front part of the building, and there was minimal damage due to the fire. Junk burned and there was slight smoke damage to the building, he said.
Walters said he thought the building used to be a car dealership. The property is owned by JP Morgan Chase Bank NA, according to the Seneca County Auditor's Office website.
No injuries were reported, Walters said.
Fostoria Fire Division also fought a fire at a vacant building a week earlier. Walters said he did not know if the fires were related.
