Dorothy L. Bloom, 95, formerly of rural Upper Sandusky, died at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Inn at Westbrook, Upper Sandusky.
She was born March 28, 1918, in Wyandot County, to Adam and Maude (Keller) Gatchell. She married Leonard F. Bloom July 26, 1937, in Newport, Ky., and he died June 20,1991.
Surviving are the following children, Mrs. Diane Burks of rural Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Darla (Richard) Hudson of Carey and Mr. Joseph (Mickie) Bloom of rural Upper Sandusky; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, David Bloom, who died in 1999; four sisters; and four brothers, besides her parents.
She was a retired baker formally owning Mrs. Bloom's Homemade Pies. She was a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild of the church and the Alpha-Omega Sunday school class. She was a member of Warpole Chapter No. 366 O.E.S., Upper Sandusky, Eden Grange No. 1705, Mohawk Sixty-Plus Club, formerly was a member of the Monday night bowling league of Sycamore and the Wednesday afternoon league of Upper Sandusky. She was a 1936 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School.
For hobbies, Dorothy loved to dance, especially square dancing; card playing and just being with family and friends. She stayed very active throughout her life.
A funeral for Dorothy will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Edgar Shelly officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, rural Sycamore.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Warpole Chapter No. 366 will conduct an Eastern Star Service at 8 p.m.
