Walter Whittle

Walter Whittle, 57, of Cobbtown, Ga., passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at his residence.

He was born April 14, 1956, in Warren, to Harold and Mallie (Cook) Whittle.

Walter is survived by two daughters, Mallie (Jeremey) Adams of Bellevue and Courtney (Darren) Brink of Ellsworth, Maine; four grandchildren, Ella, Myra, Quinn and Sullivan; two sisters, Sandra (Bruce) Brookshire of Florida and Midge Bennett of Maryland; and one brother, John (Darlene) Whittle of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved assistance dog, Murphy.

Walter served in the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Ky., and was later employed by Whirlpool in Clyde for more than 15 years. While living in Fremont for many years, he was very active in The Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW and the Fremont Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed volunteering at Memorial Hospital with Murphy by his side.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, Cobbtown, Ga.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, www.nationalmssociety.org or the Assistance Dogs of America, www.adai.org.
