A loose dog was shot and injured by police after it attacked another dog Tuesday afternoon on Oil Street.
Tiffin Police Chief Fred Stevens said the dog, a pitbull, had gotten loose and was attacking another dog that was chained in its yard when police arrived at the Oil Street residence around 4 p.m. Police tried to disengage the pitbull by using mace, but had to shoot it after it went after officers.
The pitbull was taken to a veterinarian, Stevens said. He was unsure of its condition Tuesday evening.
Stevens said the other dog, which had bite marks on its head, also was taken to the veterinarian by its owner.
Stevens said no charges have been filed yet, and the incident remains under investigation.
He said the pitbull also was found loose Monday and was being watched by a friend Tuesday when it got loose and attacked the other dog.
