Seneca Soil & Water Conservation District is offering a $500 scholarship to a student studying agriculture, natural resources or environmental sciences.
Students who apply must be entering their junior or senior year of a four-year college or the second year of an associate's degree program.
Applications are due by May 31 at the SWCD office.

OSS sets meeting
for next funding round
FREMONT - Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste District is to offer grants in the second round of its Competitive Funding Grant Program. The second-round grant meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 30 at the OSS office, 1875 E. State St., Fremont.
Eligible participants are required to attend a meeting prior to submitting an application.
The grant program's main priority is to set up recycling programs for educational institutions, non-profit organizations, townships, cities and villages in Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca counties.

Compost seminar on tap
PORT CLINTON - Residents of Seneca, Sandusky and Ottawa counties can learn to compost yard waste, food scraps and other organic materials during the annual compost workshop Wednesday.
Times are 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Catawba Island Township building, 4822 E. Cemetery Road, Port Clinton.
Registration is required with a $5 fee by Tuesday.
Each year, the workshop is sponsored in one of the district's three counties, but is open residents of all three counties, including residents of Fostoria and Bellevue.
The workshop is to cover basic techniques and essentials of composting, including the composting process, materials to place in the pile, common compost problems and helpful information.
